Back in 2018, a young and dumb hasher named Quarter Mile Queer forgot his ID in a karaoke bar named Hong Kong in downtown Boston. After a series of unfortunate events that weekend, he ended up at this karaoke bar every single day for that weekend, having at least one drink or singing one song each time.

He and two others (Do Me Decimal and Yellow Dick Gnome) thought this was so funny, that they would hold an invitational, where they would invite all their friends in the Boston Hash House Harriers to go there for a week straight, just for "one song, one drink" each night. Little did they know that the Saturday before the first day was the Boston Pride parade, after which they went to Hong Kong anyway.

Now a full 8 days, the event was rebirthed as HongKongukah, and every year since, we have descended upon the Hong Kong starting the day of the Boston Pride parade until (and including) the following Saturday. What was once a silly idea now has patches, bingo cards, shirts, and a "kitty". Today, HongKongukah represents a time when both new and veteran hashers can count on knowing exactly when and where to find their drinking mates and friends to shmooze over a scorpion bowl.
